AIG received 170 billion in bail out cash. They plan on dispersing 160 million in bonuses to keep valued employees happy and in their jobs.
This comprises a tiny .094% of the bail out cash. So what!

Should the Government be able to harass private citizens by taxing AIG bonuses at 100%?

Some areas of AIG WERE PROFITABLE and the employees met their obligations.
Should the Government be able to go in and tax those bonuses at 100% as some Congressmen have suggested?

Why do you think Americans and the Media are falling for the red herring of the $165 Million AIG bonuses?

WHEN THE REAL STORY IS THE DEMOCRAT HAND PICKED GOLDEN BOY AIG CEO EDWARD LIDDY SENT TENS OF BILLIONS OF TAXPAYER BAILOUT DOLLARS TO OVERSEAS BANKS!!! Obama worshippers are so gullible, chasing after every red herring he throws out.

When $33 Billion of the $180 Billion that went to AIG has been used to bail out European Banks in Germany, France and England? $180 million is chump change compared to $33 Billion. The bonuses are absurd but definitely not the only issue here.

I know that we bailed them out and that lots of us are out of work, struggling, etc. But if these guys had contracts with AIG which included this compensation, why should we try to strip it from them?
I don’t make anywhere near what these guys and gals make but I don’t begrudge them the compensation they agreed to with their employer. I know that it would be unfair if the govt. told my employer not to pay me what they agreed to.
I think this anger is mis-directed. What say you?

How are the AIG bonuses being justified?

Screw that it’s in the contract. fundamentally, aren’t bonuses supposed to be given for exemplary performance? So, in light of AIG’s financial situation (which would signify poor performance), how is the $165 million being justified?

Politicians are “Shocked and Outraged” that bonuses are being paid to AIG folks when the company is bankrupt?

Yet those same politicians have been paid by us for DECADES and they have BANKRUPTED OUR COUNTRY! I think I would like to see them take a pay cut and double the bonuses to AIG!

Why is Barney Frank such a hypocrite when it comes to the AIG bonuses?
Filed Under Politics | 25 Comments
Wasn’t he the one that stopped the Bush administration from investigating Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Didn’t he and his colleagues just vote themselves a raise even though America as a whole is in financial dire straits?
Barney definitely had a hand in this mess and so he seems like a hypocrite to me for going after the AIG bonuses

If the public didn’t become outraged - do you think the AIG bonuses would have been paid on the down-low?

I do.
Think about who got the most donations to their political coffers from AIG?
Hint one begins with D and one begins with O.

Why is Senator Chris Dodd so upset about AIG Bonuses, when he added the Amendment that allowed the bonuses?
Filed Under Politics | 20 Comments
He’s the one who added the Amendment to the Stimulus Package that allowed for all “Contractually Obligated” that had been agreed to prior to the Stimulus Package passage to be paid. And yet now he’s all up in arms about AIG fulfilling their Contractual Obligations.

How’s this for a solution to the AIG bonuses?

Publish the names of all the executives who are scheduled for bonuses. Every one of them. There can’t be all that many.
And unleash the media on them.
Would any of them be brave enough to still accept the money?
