I read in another post about Democrats - “All they want to do is continue to redistribute wealth with unconstitutional social programs.”

Well Canada has lots of social programs and healthcare for all. Would Canada be considered a socialist country then?

Yes. They aren’t 100% socialist, but pretty damn close. Same goes for Europe.

Clinton is not a socialist, so I guess Canada’s still free.

    That was easy.

Canada is a socialist country, just like many European countries. They just don’t outright say they are.

Yes, Canada is a Socialist country.

They are also, like all Socialist Countries, broke and overtaxed. Their social system is on the verge of collapse.

Their doctors come HERE for medical treatment.

People become permanently crippled or die while waiting for operations.

    When were you moving??

Your country does not have to be completely socialist to embrace some aspects of the doctrine. Canada does lean farther left than the US.

Oh yeahhhhhhhhhhh! I live in Canada and I must say that this is becoming more and more of a socialist country.

We have a Conservative as Prime Minister and he is quite left-leaning. He has raised taxes, he has put out more social programs. And if you look at our premier (Ontario) more and more government programs.

Plus the federal government is in charge of many provincial programs and decide the laws of the province.

There are too many government funded programs, therefore why this country is pretty bad. The United States is starting to head in this direction. That’s why Ron Paul must be president.

The welfare system is broken and must be scrapped. Many people, not all, just take advantage of it. It’s quite easy up here actually. To much social housing, complete socialized health care, to much government bans on certain foods in the area. The government is even start to control lotto groups in the country. The government is getting involved more and more everyday in our lives.

yes. canada and almost every european country is socialist. but wait, be imformed. all communist countrys are socialist, but not all socialist countrys are communist. here it is: if one, the government controls, or owns all major indusrty(taxes, regulation), and if the government provides medical care for all people. then, that country is a socialism. canada is a text book socialism. if youwork, nearly 70 % of your income goes to taxes. through direct(income), or indirect(purchases) taxes. we dont want the government to own our lives in america. we all work hard, we should live well. on our own. oh, and yes, hillary is pro socialism, because she wants to give everyone health care. by the way, 7 thousand dollers a year from each working person to pay for it. nice, i am broke already. and i make 150k

Ironically, Canada (and most of Europe) was even more socialist during the Cold War. Canada and Western Europe have moved to the centre (some to the right) over the last few decades.
Social programs reduced, taxes cut, free trade deals signed, unions declining, etc.
They’re still left of the US but are probably best descried as a blend of socialism and capitalism - trying to get the economic benefits of a more competitive and open global economy while maintaining social spending to mitigate the inequal distribution of those benefits.

Yes, but not as bad as some of the Scandinavian counties. Also by the definition of socialism, the USA, thanks to the liberals is on the way to another overtaxed socialist country.
