bailout
caldude1010101 asked:

Or do corporations who are too big to fail only matter anymore?

As a separate question, can the government legally prevent you from inspecting and/or returning to your PRIVATE property after a disaster?

I know the excuse of keeping looters away is generally used, but not everybody loots after a disaster and it is private property after all, right?

Many in disaster areas are given low or no interest loans to get themselves back on their feet. This is very similar to the AIG loans.

Yes, police can keep people out of certain areas.

    LOL,….
    ROLMFAO!!!!
    You got to be kidding.
Only the rich folks get bail outs is absolutely right.

The only reason police normally keep areas closed is that there are still hazards from the storm’s effects left.
Things like weakend buildings and bridges, leaking gas, downed power lines. Stuff like that.

Yeah, looting happens but it is usually a really minor concern.

Yes they can until you are escorted they can. I also think they will and should bail out the victims of any natural disaster. Reason being no one has no control of a natural disaster and should not be punished or held down because one strikes your town. You could be next, wouldn’t you want some help? With this global warming no one is safe from a natural disaster no one.

No, its the governments job to **** the average man. But they will throw billions and billions of dollars to corporate scum who drove their businesses into the ground because they were deregulated. Oh and they will also give billions and billions of dollars to help invade a third world country and then try and establish a democracy so their oil buddies can make an extra buck when oil speculators scare up the gas prices.

Edit: i live on the gulf coast and was there as the government denied help to people who had lost everything. I also watched as the giant insurance companies used loop-holes to get out of paying people the insurance money they deserved even though they were fully covered.

Yes. They will again pay $billions on illegally modified existing Federal contracts to Haliburton and Bechtel, and it will once again just sort of disappear.

FEMA is a Federally sponsored organization that we as taxpayers are funding. Local communities and the generosity of the American people is what this country strong in the past. Now, we look to the Federal government to bail us out. We should be good neighbors and help to rebuild without putting a burden on all taxpayers, who are already overburdened.

The Federal government is restricted by the Constitution from restraining people from going to their private property, however Article IV, Section 4 states The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence.

This is why the keeping looters away is generally used.

The Too big to fail is a joke, the government is creating an incentive in all companies to fail, showing them that the government is around to clean up behind them is not the answer. They need to incur the full costs and benefits of their actions

Corporations who are too big to fail matter [ that's free enterprise] small Business do not count [ there the little people ]
F.E.M.A. is a four letter. As far as I can tell the Constitution is now just an old piece of paper.

The FEMA help are for those without insurance or enough insurance coverage. This is a disaster of epic proportions and it is like Katrina in many ways except the Government leaned to preposition and our people didn’t loot our own city. Yes the government can legally keep you out of areas declared off limits. Right afterward the FAA blocked News Helicopters from viewing the absolute destruction and inhalation of Bolivar peninsula for a couple days and prevented Media till one got around them by joining the volunteer fire dept of Crystal Beach on Bolivar. The questions arose how many bodies what are you hiding. The truth is the area is wiped clean. A few pillars still stand and no debris. It was all washed into Galveston Bay were 6 people on Bolivar swam the 8 miles to the other shore after being swept away.

The excuse not to allow people on to Galveston is that there is no water, no sewer, no power, no hospital and those there are running serious health risk. The emergency workers restoring these services and clearing the roads so then people can come back. Even the harden old timers are packing up and leaving because there is nothing there for them. Jobs gone, businesses gone, homes gone. But Bolivar Peninsula is beyond that, It is gone, in the city of Gilchrist of the 250 homes there are 8 shells of what was. Everything else is gone and minimal debris because that was washed away too.
